Summary[]
Nola Lafargue has a nightmare about Desty Nova's public revelation of the brain bio-chips and her parents' death. On awakening, she notices that Alita, who has been keeping watch, can also shed tears. Along with Pam Mahan they make breakfast of some food that Alita was able to find, and she describes the beautiful view of the sky that Tiphareans get to see daily, alluding to Hugo.
At the Medical Inspection Bureau Core Block, Jim Roscoe hacks into and opens the security lock, enabled a group of teenagers led by him to pass through a factory where killer robots are built. They are soon confronted by a group of adults led by Jim's C.C.M., Casey Roscoe, who are intent on getting the M.I.B. up and running again. They reveal that they intend to modify its programming to make Tiphares a better place, believing that those who have brain bio-chips are superior to average humans. Casey then kills Harry, a member of Jim's group.
Nola, Pam and Alita find themselves at an empty theater, where they take a break. After Nola briefly dances, they are confronted by a mysterious cloaked figure who suddenly attacks them and specifically targets Alita. This turns out to be Sechs, one of the dozen TUNED AR Series 2 androids that were built by the Ground Investigation Bureau; she reveals that the organization was wiped out a year before, during which she yearned to battle Alita. When Alita refuses to engage Sechs in combat, she deploys her Titan Blade. Alita is intrigued by it and the two fight across the theater's seats, with Alita realizing that Sechs' combat capabilities are a step above her previous experiences in fighting the replicas.
When the two separate, they are interrupted by solitary applause from Nova II, who has appeared on the balcony along with Elf and Zwölf and Deckman 100.
