Karate Wars! is the seventy-third chapter of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order.

Summary[]
With the Space Karate Forces requiring members to fill several empty slots, many ships are seen arriving to Ketheres and it is revealed they all are full of practitioners looking to join the team. Although Jack Gerambo is intimidated by the selection process to choose four members, Zekka remains nonchalant and demonstrates a lightning fast maneuver that impresses many of those present. One of the hopeful masters tries to bribe Zekka for a spot on the team but the latter sees through the flattery and quickly kills him by flattening his head; he demands that instead of a resume, he wants the assembled members to SHOW him their skill in a process of elimination style contest. Zekka finishes by saying if anyone manages to survive the gauntlet, he will consider allowing them to join him and Toji on their team.
Heagor tells Jack about several of the different branches of karate that have evolved over the years. Spotting several karate members using movements that do not fall under any classification, Jack is bewildered that those are a form of karate; Zekka mentions that they are poor imitations but are indeed still classified as such. He goes on to say that many are offshoots from failed karate practitioners that leave to open their own schools to expand their own branches.
As the selection process goes on, Alita joins Toji in an observation room for tea. He tells her that he owes a debt of gratitude to her for striking him down back on the Leviathan. Toji tells Alita of his prior history that led him to become an enlightened warrior; Alita muses that he is strange for thanking her beating him, but admits she will be happy to hopefully see them both fight against each other again without holding back.
